The Crystal garden!

The students in 1st grade at Rommen school have performed an experiment called the crystal garden.

A trip with Comenius to the North of Norway.

Travel to ALTA from Sunday 23rd of October to Tuesday 25th of October 2012.

Sunday 23: trip to SAUTSO where we experienced the Sami culture and visited some very beautiful places
(Alta fjord, lakes, Alta river); we had lunch in a Sami lavvo (tent); we were served a traditional Sami meal
made with reindeer meat .Then we visited the Alta museum: it won the prize for being the best museum in
Europe and it is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. The museum is located near the large and famous
rock carving site (2500-6500 years old)
Monday 24: visit of KAUTOKEINO: we arrived at the Silver Gallery; then we had lunch, went on a tour and attended a lecture at the Sami college; then we went sightseeing in Kautokeino.

H2O & Snow!

During the winter of 2011/2012 the 5th grade worked hard and made several videos based on the theme "Blue Gold For Life". They made a video about "Water = H2O", a newsreport, a documentary, and other videos about "Snow". They also made "A behind the scenes" documentary. 
I am just wating for the Oscars to knock down the doors. Enjoy :)

Results from Comenius quiz.

In the beginning of the Comenius project "Blue Gold For Life" it was decided that the teachers who take part should evaluate their pupils. The first evaluation quiz was taken in spring 2011. To see if the pupils would benefit from the project in gained knowledge it was decided to take a second evaluation in autumn/winter 2011. The evaluation was taken within 3 groups of pupil levels. The age levels were 3-7 years old, 8-11 years old and 12-16 years old. The quiz was designed thereafter.

A day to remember in Norway!


Here you will see a slide show of pictures. All the pictures are taken on the 26th of October 2011. Every class at Rommen school showed what they had been working on for weeks in the project "Blue gold for life". It was a great success. We are proud.



During the day, the school had several shows where some of our students performed. All classes where invited to see the show, together with parents and our guests from the Comenius project. The theme for the shows where "Blue Gold For Life!" The show was a collaboration together with the district of Stovner.

Visiting Jean Jaurès 1 School in France, March 2012



We were welcomed by the headmistress and the
mayor of Brignoles.

The students performed several songs that they had rehersed for.

 
  Every day we met and worked together with the project "Blue Gold for life".
We visited english-classes in both pre-elementary, elementary school and participated in the teaching.

We also visited the Highscool of Brignoles, and we were able to observe and listen to the communication between the teacher and the students.

The students had been working hard since the visit in Norway,
and the Jean Jaurès school was covered with the most beatiful
paintings. Even a reindeer was watching the entrance of the scool!

could be seen all over the scool.

We vent to Monaco for a daytrip to see some of the species ourselves,
and it was amazing to see all the beautiful and
strange creatures.

The last day of our visit in Brignoles we went to the old city with some 5th degree
students. we spent the aftenoon searching for some of the fountains that are lokated
in the city. Each of us got a map, a lot of questions and 3 students to help
us find the fountains. With the aid of some pictures and the map we ran around in the old city
with the students. 












the students werw writing diplomas for us after we had found all the fountains.
They all did a great job, helping us through the puzzles.



We wish to thank you all for a fabulous week, and for all the new knowwledge
we could bring with us back to Norway.

COMENIUS




Comenius (1592-1670), real name Johann Amos Comenius was a Czech philosopher and educator. He spent his whole life to develop perfect methods of teaching. The name of the Comenius program aims to commemorate the rich European cultural heritage for education.

From 2010 to 2012 Rommen school has been in the Comenius program together with other schools from Spain, France and Turkey. The project has six scheduled meetings with different goals, actions and activities. The theme of the project is determined to be water = "Blue gold for life." There will be 3 meetings in 2010/2011 and 3 meetings in 2011/2012.

Five of the six scheduled meetings are now over and it remains one meeting in Turkey this summer.
